Zaira Wasim Khan is on cloud nine these days and the young teenager is basking in the glory of the success and recognition she has received in a short span of time. Coming from a non-filmy background and starting out in the film industry at a tender age did wear her down at times. As she mentions, “I was like new to the (showbiz) and felt nervous initially when I was working with my co-actors on the sets.”
“For that matter, I was blessed to have such people around me, who served as beacon lights to guide and goad me even in adverse and tougher situations. They were highly supportive and cooperative, besides being utterly professional.”
She won the national award earlier this year for her role as the young Geeta Phogat in the massively successful Dangal. She acknowledged the support of her team especially Aamir Khan who has clearly played an instrumental role in her success.
It is surprising to know that Zaira has absolutely no formal training as an actor as she believes that acting is an innate skill that needs to be honed with time.
Explaining her take on acting, she claims, “For having perfection in acting, you need to have an aesthetic attachment with the things going on around you. Natural acting is the mantra to blossom in this field.”
Hailing from the beautiful and troubled valley of Jammu and Kashmir, Zaira Wasim, who was an unknown name up until two years ago, has now turned into a superstar in her own right. Following the release and heartwarming critical reception of both Dangal and Secret Superstar, Zaira has realized her dreams of acting and is rewarded for her efforts and hard work in due time.
