So the day is here to find out whether or not the remake of Sairat, Dhadak, managed to please the audience as much as the original. Stakes are also higher because it is Janhvi Kapoor’s debut film and Ishaan Khatter’s first big banner movie. Thus anticipation was huge and turns out, it has fulfilled all the expectations. The film has earned Rs 8.71 crore on the first day which is really interesting because even Student Of The Year couldn’t fetch that much number on its first day.
Taran Adarsh revealed the numbers saying, “#Dhadak takes a HEROIC START… Rarely does a film starring absolute newcomers open so well… Day 1 is higher than #StudentOfTheYear [₹ 8 cr]… Fri ₹ 8.71 cr. India biz.” Guess the fact that it is a remake of Sairat, one of the most loved Marathi films ever made, helped Dhadak get so much love and appreciation at the box office. Even though the reviews were pretty mixed, the film seemed to have enchanted the audience.
It was expected to earn well because Friday saw really good occupancy. Despite rivaling a Dwayne Johnson film Skyscraper, it couldn’t be dwarfed. In fact, it saw more traction than the high octane Hollywood action film. That obviously says it all because lately, Hollywood has been trumping Hindi films on a regular basis at the box office.
