It was only yesterday when the news of Karan Johar locking down Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt for his next directorial made headlines. And needless to say, it was a moment of euphoria for fans who can’t wait for the period drama, one which is set in the Mughal era, to go on floors. In a report published by KoiMoi, it was said that while Ranveer is rumored to play the lead, Kareena has been roped in to play the role of his sister and that Alia will be seen opposite Ranveer. It was also reported that apart from the ensemble cast, the makers are yet to find a face for the role of Ranveer’s younger brother because apparently, Ranbir Kapoor turned it down later.
Yep, rumor mills were abuzz that Ranbir rejected the role as he didn’t want to be seen in a multi-starrer after Sanju and he didn’t want to do it alongside Ranveer. But that was yesterday! Today there is another development at the head and we are stoked. According to an industry insider, Karan Johar and co are in talks with the talent-house Vicky Kaushal who was last seen and appreciated in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. And if all works out, he will be roped in for the second lead. “They are keen on casting Vicky in the magnum opus that will feature a star cast of two-hero and three-heroines. And given that Karan has already worked with him in Lust Stories, it is looking like a possibility,” said the source.
Apart from being a love saga, the film will also tell a tale of brother-rivalry and the shooting is expected to begin in April, next year. Hopefully, we will hear an official announcement in a few weeks’ time. But until then, fingers crossed!
