The first song from the promising YRF venture, Sui Dhaaga: Made In India is out. Titled, Chaav Laaga, this romantic ditty throws light on the tale of the lead couple, played by Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan. In an era when original songs have become a rarity, this sweet, bright song is sure to make it to your listen-to-loop-all-day list. Don’t tell me you don’t have a playlist like that on your phone! After Chaav Laaga there should be.
Chaav Laaga is a very different take on love. There are no violins playing in the background. Anushka and Varun are not dancing around trees while singing it. But the couple goes about living their day, making the best of it through daily struggles, and finding small, tiny moments of pragmatic romance. They sit down to eat food, together for the first time. On this occasion, the tears in the wife’s eyes are reflected in the musical verses of Chaav Laaga.
Reading the name of the music director will make you very happy – Anu Malik. After the soft, soothing, grounder numbers songs Dum Laga Ke Haisha became a hit, it comes as no surprise that YRF roped in the music director for Sui Dhaaga, which also is a story from the heartlands of India. Papon and Ronkini Gupta have crooned the numbers, and like actors, they, too, seem to have become the characters. National Film Award winner Varun Grover has penned the lyrics and he should be eyeing for some more awards in the coming season.
Sui Dhaga: Made In India is highly anticipated because reunites the combo of Sharat Kataria and Maneesh Sharma, who has given us a gem like Dum Laga Ke Haisha. It is shot in Bhopal, Chanderi, and Delhi. It is set to hit the screens on September 28 and will clash with Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha at the box office.
