Bengaluru: Bihar police have rescued 15 boys including five below the age of 14 years employed as bonded labourers, from Ramanagara in the city.
According to the police, a local trader named Irshad had bought these children from various parts of Bihar assuring salary of Rs 10,000 per month. However, Irshad used to sell them off to other businessmen who would engage them in dangerous and hazardous work.
This racket came to light recently when one of the boys alerted his native village grama panchayat preside, in turn,n turn alerted the Bihar State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights. On Saturday, a police team from Bihar raided Ramanagar and rescued all the boys.
The police continued the investigation with the help of Ramanagara police. According to the preliminary investigation, this racket was active in the district since last three years.
